moment of nyepi

Wanna tell story about nyepi that was celebrated two weeks ago.
Wanna share some photos too.
Hihii..
Nyepi.

What is Nyepi??
Nyepi day is Balinese day of Silent, which falls on the following dark moon and open new year of Saka Hindu. It is based on Balinese calender system.
What kind of Balinese calender system?
There are two system in Balinese calender. The First is "Pawukon" or "Wuku" which means Week. The second is "Sasih" which means month.
The Pawukon, a 210-day ritual calendar brought over from Java in the 14th century, is a complex cycle of numerological conjunctions that provides the basic schedule for ritual activities on Bali.
Sasih, a parallel system of Indian origin, is a twelve month lunar calendar that starts with the vernal equinox and is equally important in determining when to pay respect to the Gods.

When the Balinese celebrate nyepi?
Before the Balinese celebrate nyepi, there are some ceremony which leads it.
The firs is Melasti or Mekiyis or Melis. Its usually celebrate three days before nyepi. The Balinese goes to the ocean or lake or river to take Amerta (holy water, source of eternal life) and clean their self with sprinkling that water to their self and also to the Pratima or Arca or Pralingga.
The aim of this ceremony is to clean all nature and its content.

The second is Tawur Kesanga. This ceremony celebrate a day before nyepi.
The Balinese usually make an Ogoh-ogoh as a symbol of evil. In Bali Ogoh-ogoh will be paraded around the village accompanied by bleganjur. Bleganjur is a Balinese gamelan music.
In Jakarta a Balinese celebrate this ceremony at Monas. We also make an Ogoh-ogoh and then paraded around Monas. And the government of DKI Jakarta support this ceremony.
In the evening, the Hindus celebrating Ngerupuk, start making noises and light burning torches and set fire to the Ogoh-ogoh in order to get the Bhuta Kala, evil spirits, out of our lives.

The third is Nyepi.
Balinese do catur brata penyepian. There are :
1. Amati Geni its mean not turn on the fire. The fire here means We  "turn off" our desire.
2.Amati Karya its mean we are not allowed to do activity for physical interest. But we have to do activity to purify spiritual.
3. Amati Lelungaan its mean we are not allowed to go anywhere. But we have to introspection.
4. Amati lelanguan its mean we are not allowed to have fun. But we have to concentrate our mind to the GOD, Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa.
Usually in Bali there is no activity to do. Light is kept to minimum or not at all.
On Nyepi the world expected to be clean and everything starts anew, with Man showing his symbolic control over himself and the "force" of the World, hence the mandatory religious control.

The last, After Nyepi and Catur brata penyepian is over people celebrate Ngembak Geni. We are the Hindus usually visit to forgive each other and doing Dharma Santhi.

Okay there are some story about Nyepi day.
